Wordless Wednesday ~ Then and Now ~

This is the home of my Great Grandparents, James and Mary Bella Smith. Located at 107 Nile Street, Stratford Ontario Canada around 1918. In the front window on the right you will see what looks like a piece of paper with black marks on it. This is a service flag, the marks are actually 5 stars, one for each son they had overseas in the war.

                                                      The home in 2004.

  1. Is it still in the family? I love finding family homes still standing and cared for even if they aren't lived in by family members any more.

  2. Sadly it is no longer in the family, but like you I love that who ever owns it now is caring for it and loves it.

  3. I love seeing the home back then, and getting to see it now! Sweet little house...it's sad the wrap around porch is no longer there.

The love does show by how well the home is cared for. I love old houses!

  4. Oh wow, that is so great that you have photos of the old and new. I love the gingerbread trim in the old version.
