Sepia Saturday~ Best Buddies

The Freckled face little boy on the right is my Great Uncle James Mason Jr., the doe eyed young man on the left is Freddie Burchett. From the way Freddie has his armed draped over my uncle's shoulder and that look on his face that says " I'll protect you, no matter What", It makes me think that Little Freddie must have been my Uncle's best friend at this point in his young life. The photo was taken sometime in the 1930's in Ontario Canada.

What a wonderful SS photo. I just read a couple of older posts too. You have some nice photos. I have ancestors from England and Scotland. Checked out your list of names but nothing matches mine. I have had a lot of fun doing genealogy. It is addictive. Great post.

I can't help but think of the youtube video of the little boy next to his brother saying "Charlie bit my finger!" These angelic freckle faced boys probably had their own "you bit my finger" moments. A really fun photo.

I have a soft spot for little freckled, redheaded boys. I'm sure his hair was red. It's a wonderful photograph.

Yes it is a great photograph. It is the combination of the poses, the looks on their faces, and that warm sepia treatment : just makes it such a good window to the past. Thanks for joining in with Sepia Saturday.

Interesting photo. They look good mates.

Enjoyed your banner heading for Aberdeen. I have spent a lot of time working there in the oil industry.

Thank you everyone, I only have one memory of my Great Uncle Jim it was when he came to The United States for my moms funeral( the photo is from my moms old album) ...I remember his warm smile, good nature and gentleness. By then his hair was gray, but I bet you are right Nana Jo about it being red ! :)

A wonderful photo. They do look like the best of friends. I wonder what they ran off to play after the picture was snapped.

wonderful photo and yes protective of the younger brother. This is my first stop at your blog and I notice Morrison on your sidebar from Scotland, some of my husband's ancestors came from there too.

This is a treasure of a photograph. Freddie has a very determined look on his face, doesn't he? I also suspect your uncle had red hair. Sometimes you can just "see" colors in sepia photographs. Thanks for sharing.

i have another theory: your uncle was a typically "dennis the menace", always off to do some mischief, and the elder one is saying that "he's got his back!!"
just another point of view...
