Wordless Wednesday~1878 Needlework Sampler

A Needlework sampler made in 1878 by my Great Grandmother Mary Bella Watson age 11 in New Deer, Aberdeen Scotland.

  1. Amazing! Is this in your possession or do you have to be content with a digital version? Sewing and handwork is a special love of mine so this really strikes a chord with me.

  2. I have to be content with a digital, the original work hangs in my Cousins home along with a beautiful handmade pin cushion My great Grandmother did in 1898. I'm very thankful that my cousin has shared the treasures with me if even just in photos, until last year I never knew these even existed.

  3. What a treasure to have! You are lucky.

By the way, I find it almost impossible to read the black print against the dark background. Am I the only one?

  4. Hi Wendy,
Thanks for letting me know you are having trouble viewing the writing on my blog. I Did check it on 5 other computers and it was OK....but I will see what I can do to fix the background color so it is easier for all to see :)
